SEO Tasks to Complete Daily
Categorized in: SEO
One of the most important things to understand about SEO is that efforts need to be ongoing in order to maintain and improve a website’s presence in search results. Unlike an ad campaign, you can’t turn it off and on as you please without impacting performance. In order to achieve steady organic traffic growth, the SEO campaign must remain steady, as well. Taking time off from SEO tasks typically coincides with a gradual dip in organic traffic. To properly maintain an SEO campaign, it’s recommended to complete the following SEO tasks daily:
Read reputable SEO industry blogs
If you’re responsible for SEO, it’s important to ensure that you’re always following best practices. The SEO industry continually evolves along with the search engine algorithms. In order for your campaign to stay current, you need to know what’s happening. Browsing reputable industry blogs like the Google Webmaster Central Blog and Search Engine Land will keep you informed. Many blogs have a daily or weekly newsletter so the information can be sent straight to your inbox.
Find new link opportunities
Today’s SEO link building can be difficult and time consuming, and you probably won’t find decent link opportunities every day. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be on the lookout for them. As you go about your daily routine, browsing industry websites, reading industry blogs, and checking in on business social media accounts, always keep link building in the back of your mind and be on the lookout for any potential new opportunity.
Publish high-quality content
Content marketing is a crucial piece of an SEO campaign. Optimized content can generate organic search engine traffic, inbound links, and social shares. The search engines also reward sites that are “fresh”, or continually updated with relevant content. If you have the resources to do so, publishing a high-quality new blog post every day is great for SEO.
Share content in social
If you’re spending all this time writing and publishing great SEO content, don’t you want people to actually see it? Social media complements an SEO campaign because it provides an outlet to share content with target audience members. This helps to generate trust and inbound links, which are search engine ranking signals. When a business social media account is active and sharing great content daily, it gives people a reason to follow the account.
While it might not be possible or make sense to execute these items every day, at the very least they should be done regularly: a few times a week or month. If that isn’t possible, then it means that the SEO campaign should be outsourced to a trusted firm in order to ensure that the work is getting done. If it doesn’t get done, you can’t expect an organic search presence to improve.
