SEO Isn’t Dead
Categorized in: SEO
There has been some industry buzz lately offering the idea that SEO doesn’t work anymore because AI is either taking over or impacting SEO results. The thing is, we don’t think SEO is dead at all, only that the industry might be changing. If you think about it, this conversation has surfaced before, even long before AI entered the conversation. Yet, SEO is still quietly working, returning organic search results. It’s still something that we need to work on. The truth use SEO is changing, but it isn’t going away.
People Still Use Search Engines
Despite all the buzz about the status of SEO, the fact remains that people still use search engines. Think about your own habits while online. When you need information, what do you do? Some people still use search engines exclusively. Others may have started using AI tools to help gather information. However, the majority of people still use search engines, even if they use AI, as well.
Still need to be convinced? According to Demand Sage, there are 13.7 billion searches that take place on Google each day in 2025. These searches still return results. This means that if business believe the “buzz” that SEO is dead, they’d miss out on traffic. If people are still searching online, SEO will still exist. It just may not follow the same pattern is it did before.
Organic Search Still Drives Traffic
Even though traffic might be down (or it might not be) we can’t deny that organic search still drives traffic. It all depends on the industry. If you want proof against what I am saying, visit your analytics and check the organic traffic data. Are you still getting organic traffic? Chances are pretty good that the answer is yes.
However, how much you’re getting, and whether or not the number is more or less than you expected, is irrelevant. If organic traffic is down, but you still have some organic traffic coming in, you can’t say it’s dead. Dead would mean that the number is zero. Granted, dropping traffic is frustrating. However, we don’t know why it’s happening. It could point to outside factors, such as the economy, and not indicate anything more than that.
Looking for Clues About Where Things Are Going
Sure, we don’t believe that SEO is dead. However, we do notice some things that indicate the situation might be under transition. SEO may not look the same in the future as it has in the past or even the present. You need to remember, though, that this is nothing new. SEO has gone through many notable changes since the beginning. The SEO today is not the same as it was ten years ago, for example.
To look for clues about how things are changing, start with observing your own search habits. Often, we adapt to changes related to search, and we may not even know. It’s not uncommon to change the way we asked questions. We all do it, and we all may not realize. This is a good place to start to try to assess trends.
Granted, since this situation is in a transitional period, we will need to wait and see how things turn out. We believe that while the industry is changing, SEO certainly isn’t dead!
