The Role of Ongoing SEO in Your Strategy
Categorized in: SEO
There are two basic sections to a comprehensive SEO program. There’s the initial work that is done, which involves making sure all the on page factors and other technical items are optimized for success, and the ongoing work. Many clients who come to us are tempted to ignore or devalue the ongoing SEO work, but to us, this is where the magic really happens. This is where the lasting results are established.
Here’s a look at what ongoing SEO is and why it’s so important for your overall results:
What Ongoing SEO Is
We look at the ongoing SEO work as an essential part of any digital marketing strategy. This work creates a solid foundation where the rest of the digital marketing can launch from. It involves activities such as:
- Regular monitoring of data assess organic traffic and overall performance.
- Monitoring backlinks and disavowing any that look spammy.
- Ongoing content marketing, posting new content on a regular schedule on the website/blog.
- A consistent social media schedule that focuses on sharing any new content.
Develop a Consistent Schedule
As you can see, each of these tasks requires consistency. You need to consistently monitor data, disavow bad links, post content, and share in social media. To be honest, the activities can feel like such a grind sometimes, where you’re doing constant work with little to show for it. It can be hard to stick to a schedule. It might be the first activity that leaves your schedule when you get too busy.
Stay with it. Follow your schedule. It may not seem like you’re getting anywhere at first, but sooner than you think, you will realize what all the consistency was for. But, in order to get there, you will need to develop a schedule and stick with it.
Get Lasting Results with Ongoing SEO
The truth is, the initial phase of SEO will only take your results up to a certain point. If you don’t do the ongoing work, your SEO results will taper off long before they reach their potential. You will likely reach a peak with your results and then they’ll start to taper off.
However, if you implement an ongoing program that includes posting regular content, your results won’t peak quickly and taper off. They’ll rise steadily for a long time, and you may never see that plateau. And, as long as you keep posting consistently, your results likely won’t taper off.The only problem is, you will experience some frustrations for several months as you do this ongoing work and then don’t see results. However, at some point, you’ll start to see positive signs that things are trending in the right direction. Stay the course! Your results will come.
There is no better way to achieve long-lasting SEO results than to implement an ongoing SEO program. This is where the real results happen. Sure, the initial SEO phase is important too, but without the ongoing piece, your SEO program will never see its true potential.
