When it comes to content marketing, you should post regularly so that your audience can have a greater chance of finding your content. When you look around online, you like noticed that some blogs have the dates on their posts and some don’t. As the content on your blog increases, you are starting to wonder – should you keep the dates on your posts or not? Here is a look at some of the pros and cons of whether or not you should remove the dates.

Keeping the Dates?

There are a lot of reasons why you should consider leaving the dates on your blog posts. Although we may not realize it, leaving the posts on the content could comfort your audience members by helping them understand that you are posting to your blog regularly, and this means that they might be more likely to return to your website and see what other content you may have published.

Not only that, but in a lot of ways, it can increase your authenticity to your audience if you keep the dates. People like authenticity because they like knowing the real story of the person who went through it. They don’t want a fictionalized account of something that happened in the past. If you remove the dates from your posts, you risk looking less authentic.

Leaving the dates on the posts can also help your audience better locate your content on the blog. It simply offers a way for you to organize your content. Since having dated posts are pretty standard, many are used to looking for information using the dates to help them find your content. If you remove them, they may not understand how to navigate.

Removing the Dates?

That being said, you may want to consider removing the dates. When you do that, it can create a less biased experienced. If all of your content is evergreen and never goes out of style, seeing a date on the post could make them feel like the content is outdated. Removing the dates makes the piece timeless.

Removing the dates also makes your posts feel more neutral and less biased. If the date is there, they could place a time stamp on your content. Without the date there, they could enjoy the content for what it is and not judge you based on any events that may have happened around the time of that date.

Ultimately, it all depends on the nature of your business as to whether or not you decide to remove the posts or not. It’s true that dates are part of our everyday lives. They appear on our bills, on our calendars, and in our blog posts. However, dates can also be a red flag for biasing the information. If you have a blog post that this bias could negatively impact, you might consider removing the dates from your post. Doing so can help create a more neutral post that anyone can enjoy.
