Connect Content with Audience Using Social Media
Categorized in: Content, Social Media
When it comes to social media and how it relates to digital marketing, it isn’t just about making random posts that relate to your company. There’s a lot more that goes into it. It is important to think about your ultimate motive for social media. Essentially, you do it because you want to attract your target audience. Then, you want the audience to follow a desired course of action that will help you reach your business goals.
That’s why it’s so important to do more than just post things that seem like they might relate. You need to make sure that your content connects to the audience. Here’s a look at what can be done to make sure that happens.
Get to Know Your Audience
It goes without saying that you should get to know who your audience really is before you proceed with posting on social media. However, you’d be surprised how much the audience is an afterthought. The audience is about more than just “who’s out there”. Essentially, your audience makes up your customer base, and you’ll want to attract your ideal customers.
If you post random content on social media that wasn’t really thought out, you miss the chance to connect with this audience. But, you also need to know who they are. If you need to, go back through your customer avatars and use this information to plan out your social media.
Analyze Existing Data About Your Content
Start by analyzing what has been posted and how it resonated. Then, look at data about your audience and consider what types of content the audience responds to. If you see evidence that they do like some things you posted, leverage that idea and use the data to fuel your understanding of what to post.
Even if you suspect the current content might be missing the mark, it helps to look at the existing data. It can give you clues as to what is going on, as well as some adjustments that you might need to make. If you think about it, even having no data at all, or very little data, is enough information for you to determine some changes to make. Having “no data”, if you think about it, is still information.
Make Sure Content Has Value
At the end of the day, your audience needs to believe that your content has value to them. If they do, then they’ll respond favorably to your social media and to your brand as a whole. They may even feel motivated because of your content to become paying customers. However, it all starts with having excellent content that they really enjoy.
How do you do that? Well, as mentioned above, it starts by getting to know your audience. Then, you can gain insights by analyzing existing content. You can also figure out where your audience is online. From there, you can get a handle on the types of content they are already responding to and do your best to replicate it according to your own company’s brand and style.
Connecting with your audience on with social media starts with your content. If they’re not responding, you need to make some changes.
