Content Your Audience Will Love to Share
Categorized in: Content
You spend all that time creating content for your digital marketing efforts but have you ever stopped to consider, before you create it, whether or not your audience will like it? After all, that’s what it’s all about. No matter if you create the content for your social media, to post on your business blog, a video, or any other type of content out there, you want to make sure people are seeing it.
The problem is, just because you created the content doesn’t mean your audience will receive it well. You want them to consume it, enjoy it, find value in it, and ultimately share it. How do you create content that’s shareable in particular? Here are some tips:
Get to Know Your Audience
It all starts with getting to know your audience. You need to understand them inside and out before you can create content they will want to share. What makes them tick? What kinds of content to they like to consume? The more you know about them, the better off you’ll be.
Do your research. Figure out where they are online. Get to know as much as you can about their content consumption habits before you even develop your content marketing strategy. This is the first step to creating great content for them. You need to get to know this before you are able to create what they will enjoy.
Focus on Creating Value
What is the best way to get your content to connect with your audience? In general, this means crafting content that creates value. It should serve some kind of need that they have. Whether it’s the solution to a problem, the answer to a question, or simply a piece that they enjoyed. Getting them to feel happy they read your content is the first step to getting them to eventually share it.
When researching your audience, start thinking about what it is they might need in order to resonate with your content. Try to determine what kind of content they will encounter that they might value.
Discover Why Your Content is Getting Shared
In an ideal world, you will have some content in your arsenal that has already gotten shared. Even if you’ve only had one or two pieces of content that have gotten shared, this could give you valuable insights. Some questions to ask:
- What kind of content was it? (such as video, article, social media post, etc).
- What was the subject of the content that got shared?
- Were there images involved? What did they look like?
Your goal is to try to find a pattern. Are all your videos getting shared? Did the articles all have a similar topic? You can use any insights you gain from this data to try to replicate the success. Note that this is no guarantee that your insights will amount to anything tangible, but it can at least provide a starting point.
At the end of the day, you want to focus on making your audience happy. This is the most important consideration when creating content and eventually, the shares will come.
