Connect with Your Audience on Social Media
Categorized in: Social Media
When implementing the digital marketing plan, businesses often get stuck in a routine of simply posting for the sake of it. They write content that relates to the business or their industry and the they move on from it. While this isn’t entirely wrong, there is something missing here. Writing and posting content on social media that needs to be done with the audience in mind. It needs to connect with the audience. After all, this is why you are working on social media in the first place, and ultimately why you have put together a digital marketing strategy.
Get to Know Your Audience
First, you need to get to know who you are audience is, including any relevant demographics. The first place where companies go wrong on social media is the they only have a vague (at best) idea of who their audience really is. Knowing this will improve your social media considerably and will allow you to better connect with them.
So, how do you go about knowing who your audience really is? It starts with understanding your ideal customer. Get to know who they are, and then take measures on social media in order to connect with them and attract them. On social media, you specifically need to know what kind of content they resonate with and how they engage on the platform. You want to give them the type of content that they want.
Make Your Content Engaging
It goes without saying that you need to create engaging content on social media in order to connect with your audience. While the first step is understanding your audience, the second is to really take a deep dive at understand the types of content they like. This not only pertains to the content that you post on your website and then share in social media, but the posts themselves.
You need to determine what kinds of content your ideal audience engages with, and then you need to figure out how you can implement what you learn while still remaining true to your brand voice. You can’t just copy what’s standard in the industry, you need to stay true to who you are.
Show Up and Be Consistent
Consistency is everyone on social media. If you only post sporadically, or if it has been months since you’ve posted, this could do more harm than good for your brand. When a potential customer looks at your social media, one of the first things they notice is whether or not you are active. They’ll look at the last time you posted. If it was months, or even years ago (we’ve seen it!) you lose a bit of credibility in their eyes, especially if they themselves are active on the platform.
Create a social media content strategy and stick with it. Make sure you are at least posting once a week. More is better, but the frequency of posting totally depends on your audience. Use third-party scheduling software in order to stay consistent, and schedule posts far in advance when you can.
Social media is great for connecting with your audience, but you have to do it right. This advice will help.
